Unlike others you may have heard about, Miracle is not an orphan or from a broken family in any way; he is the son of 2 teachers here, called Isak and Ros. However, Miracle is an amazing example of God showing his glory, in a situation many thought would only end in tragedy.

When Ros was 20 weeks pregnant with Miracle, they were along with other teachers being driven back from school in a truck, as at this time there was very heavy rainfall. The roads in Borneo at this time were not paved at all - they were extremely rough and bumpy, and in the truck, all the bumps could be felt. The bumping around was so bad, it made Ros' water break - this continued to happen all through the night! They went to the hospital the next morning, and the doctors said Ros had to have induced labour, as the water was almost completely gone.

When born, he weighed just 1.2 kilograms. He had a very underdeveloped heart, brain and lungs - the doctors had informed his parents that he just had 2 hours left to live (he was wrapped in plastic in the photo below because the hospital had no incubator) . But 2 hours passed, and he kept living. And after that kept living, to the point the doctor - not initially a believer - said "This is a miracle from God, there is no other explanation".

The doctors then warned that if Miracle did keep living, he would be severely disabled, with big problems with all his vital organs, particularly his heart and brain. Isak and Ros kept praying to God, knowing that if God could keep Miracle alive, after doctors said he had just 2 hours to live, God could make Miracle grow to be perfectly healthy as well. And while there were some development issues in the very early stages of his life, Miracle kept living - with no such issues at all!

He is a sweet and very active boy, and at school he learns very quickly (especially when his mind is in the classroom and not in outer space!). In everything, no matter what doctors say, God is all powerful and whatever happens is for the best, whether it's a miracle like this boy received or God showing his glory in a different way. And today Miracle, that boy who the doctors said wouldn't live past 2 hours, is 12 years old!
